Hello everyone.   I’ve been told that the company that I have this blog through is not going to allow anyone to use their blogs to promote any type of business, so I believe I have found another place to put my blog.  I am now trying it out to see if it will work for me.  For this reason, I won’t be posting too much on here at this point.  I will be emailing those on my email list to let you know when the new blog is up and running.  If you aren’t on my email list but would like to be, please email me at Stampindebs at aol dot com and let me know you’d like to be added to my Stampin’ Up! email list.  Please put  Stampin’ Up Email in the subject line so that if it should happen to go to spam, or I don’t recognize your email addy I can be sure to open it to get you added.

I’d like to give you a great tip I came across for stamping on slick things with Stazon ink.  Stazon is a permanent ink that is similar to using a permanent marker.  You can stamp on things like vellum, acetate, metal, etc.  When you stamp on these things, they’re somewhat slick and it’s very very easy for the stamp to slide just a big.   I was doing some swaps where I was stamping on acetate.  After messing up a few of them when the stamp slid a bit, I grabbed my Stamp a Ma Jig and used that.  It worked like a dream to hold the stamp in place as I stamped.  If you aren’t familiar with this great stamp placement tool, contact me and I’ll be glad to explain how it works, or even give you a demonstration.

I hope everyone has a fabulous and very blessed Christmas and New Year.

God Bless,

Deb

I’m alive and well lol

Although you may not know it since i’ts been over 2 months since I’ve posted.  This has been a crazy time for us.  I will try to do better, but not sure how well I’ll do for awhile.  First a bit about what’s been going on, then a couple of cards made with Stampin’ Up’s new digital paper crafting solution, My Digital Studio (MDS).

My son has not deployed and I’m very thankful for that.  He had to have surgery nearly a month ago, and is healing well, but isn’t there yet.  The surgery went very well, and he should be fine, it’s just a long recovery process.

We are also going to be moving about 3 hrs from here in a couple of months.  He’s taken a job in a town just outside Dallas, so we’ll be moving to that area soon.  It will take awhile though to wrap up everything here and save enough to actually move.  Getting everything ready will be slow going also as I can’t do too much at a time.   I’m sad at the thought of leaving our church and family and friends here, but we believe this is the direction God is leading us, so all will be fine.

Now on to some cards.  As I said these were made with SU’s new digital program MDS.  This software program is amazing.  It is loaded with 100’s of stamps, a lot of designer paper, ribbon, hodgepodge hardware, all sorts of embellishments.  It has designed templates you can change or you can create your own.  You can make cards, scrapbook pages, calendars, and much more.  You can print it yourself, send your projects by email, turn them into DVD movies, or have it professionally printed through SU so you are sure to get exact colors.  I have sent both of these cards off to be professionally printed, so if you’re in the area and would like to see them in person give me a call and I will let you know when I receive them.  I just sent them in today, so I should have them in about a week I’m guessing.

This is the first one I did and the neatest thing is, I don’t own these particular stamps.  Well I do have the Baroque Motifs that I used at the top for the swirl, but I don’t have Winter Post which is the set the deer came from.  I don’t have the DSP I used either, but with MDS I have all these things and can create them digitally.  You can even do a hybrid project.  Don’t want to do it all digitally but don’t have a dsp or stamp that you want to use?  Design that part digitally, print it off, then add your own hardware, ribbon or other embellishments.

This is the second one that I did.  We even have punches like this butterfly punch, then you can fill that with the color you want, and even add the polka dot dsp.  I was even able to make it look like I’d stamped on the ribbon.  How kewl is that??  The program doesn’t currently have the cottage wall dsp, and that is my favorite, but I was able to use various stamps to make something very similar to the cottage wall dsp and I used that at the bottom.  If you’d like to see this program in action, give me a call and we can schedule a time that you can come over and see how it works.  Since I don’t have a laptop  you’ll have to come to my house to see it.  Hope all is well with everyone reading this.  God Bless you all, and I’ll try to do better about posting.  Please bear with me.

Oopsie, do I feel silly!!

Ok, let’s make that 4 posts in one day, but only cuz I totally messed up and gave you the wrong contest info for Stampin’ Addicts.  The picture I posted and contest info was for a contest they had LAST month.  There is a current contest featuring items that were available at convention PLUS the Country Living summer cookout kit that SU offered.  This one is even easier, just go to  Stampin Addicts,  join if you haven’t already, click on the SU rocks my world contest banner at the very top, and leave a comment telling one thing you love about Stampin’ Up!  Enter by September 18th, because on the 19th, James will be drawing 3 winners, and each one will receive a prize bundle.  Sept SA contest

Have you visited Stampin’ Addicts yet??

If not, what are you waiting for???   lol   This is a great community of stampers.  If you love Stampin’ Up! products, you’ll love SA (stampin addicts).   There are discussion boards, video tutorials, a fantastic gallery, stamping challenges and so much more.  The focus is on Stampin’ Up products, but you’re welcome to start a gallery and post things you made using other companies products as well.  But the vast majority of what you’ll see there will be Stampin’ Up!  If you’re a Stampin’ Up! demo, there is a special forum just for us to share ideas and get help with projects we can show our customers.  If you’re not a demo, call me and I can fix that!!  lol   Ok, for reals this time…..if you’re not a demo there is still a full range of areas you can visit including the discussion boards, stamp challenges, the galleries are open to all, and even swaps you can join and an area to buy, sell or trade stamping supplies.  And…..did I mention fun contests where you can win goodies???   James and Angie operate Stampin’ Addicts, and recently gave away one of the special edition Stampin Up! build a bears that were available to demos at Convention.  I hear they might have one or two more of these to give away in the future.  The current contest features other items that were available to demos who went to convention (or in my case had a wonderful buddy who went and bought me stuff).  Thanks Janice!!!  Love ya!!!  convention-candy1-450x473 This blog post is my entry to win this great assortment of goodies that includes the big 12×12 reusable shopping bag with the circle circus print, the manicure set, a stampin’ up pen in an in color, and the awesome green water bottle.  Green as in the color, and the materials.  The canvas bag is also made with recyclable materials and cuts down on all those plastic bags in the landfill.  For your chance to win, Click Here, join stampin addicts, then click on the Stampin’ Up! Rocks My World contest banner at the top.  Make a blog post linking to Stampin Addicts, or Twitter about it and let James know.  See complete contest details at Stampin Addicts.   The window for the Stampin’ Addicts link will open in a new window so you don’t lose your place here.

Wow, 3 posts of fun stuff in one day.  Katie bar the door!! I’m on a roll now.  lol

SU Hostess Special!!

First I want to let you know that SU is beginning to focus on having specials that last a bit longer.  I’m thrilled about this.  Many times the timing of a special just didn’t fit into my budget.  lol   This particular hostess special has two parts.

Part One:  September 1st to November 30, 2009, host a workshop of 250.00* or more and receive almost any item in the Holiday Mini Catalog for only 10.00  This does not include hostess sets or My Digital Studio.  But it does include some big ticket items like the movers and shapers dies etc.

Part Two:  October 1st to November 30th, 2009, host a workshop of 400.00* or more and you will be able to get the My Digital Studio (MDS) for 1/2 price!!  From everything I’ve seen about this software, it is absolutely amazing.  See my post before this one for more information about MDS.

Beginning Oct 1st, 2009 if you host that 400.00* workshop, you will be able to get both things.  The 10.00 mini item, plus the MDS at 1/2 price!!  I am really hoping to be able to hold my own workshop so that I can earn this.  If you’d like earn these as well, contact me and I can help you have either an in home workshop where you invite your friends over, or have a catalog party where those familiar with stamping can just place orders.   Workshops are simple to host and a lot of fun.

* Workshop amounts listed are for merchandise only, before tax and shipping.  These offers must be done through a demonstrator and are not available by going to the online store at Stampin Ups website.

My Digital Studio (MDS)

Stampin’ Up! has come out with a new software program for digital scrapbooking and card making.  I’ve not seen the actual program yet, but I’ve seen many discussions about what it entails, and seen many fabulous projects made with it.  Sooooo what is it??  Well, I’m glad you asked!!  lol   No way can I tell you everything it does, but in a nutshell, it has everything you need to create fabulous layouts for scrapbooking and cardmaking.  There are templates that you use as is, or make changes to, or you can start with a blank slate.  It contains many different designer papers, digital stamps, many items from our accessories section like ribbon, the metal designer hardware pieces, brads, etc.  Just to give you an idea, this is a page that was done by my friend Lisa Dallas.  Lisa's Coco SB Page  You can see she’s used all these elements.  She typed her journaling on the designer paper with the fonts included in the software, added her photos, matted them, (she may have used the shadow effect in the software), put some brads on the page, and put ribbon in the metal grommets.  Since the software allows you to do various sizes of SB pages, you can print them out yourself (the smaller sizes, or 12×12 if you have a 12×12 printer), or you can send it electronically to a professional print place like kinkos who will print it out and mail it to you, (Did I mention many places have adjusted their settings to exactly match SU Colors)??   You can do totally digital SB’ing, Totally Traditional, or hybrid.  Totally digital is to do your page or card in the software,  print it out and that’s it.   Totally traditional allows you to use the software to completely design your project before you cut anything.  How many times have you added a brad to a page and then thought, gee, that would have looked better over on the other side.  Or after you cut some old olive card stock, you realize that you wish you’d used chocolate chip.  No more wasted supplies.  Design it completely with the software, make any changes, and once you’re totally happy with it, use that as the template to create the page using the supplies you have at home.  Many times I make a card and send it off in the mail without getting a picture of it, then try to remember how I did it.  By designing it in the software first, I can save it, so later I know exactly how it looked if I want to do another one.  Hybrid is where you maybe start with designer paper, add your journaling on top of that, go ahead and design the rest of the page if you like, but before you print it, take off the photos and embellishments, print the background part with the DSP (designer paper) and journaling, then add your actual photos and embellishments to the background you printed.   This software also allows you to easily create your own photo Christmas cards!!   The best part is, everyone says this software is super easy to install, and to use even if you aren’t a computer whiz.  I will be doing another post in a little bit about our Hostess specials going on right now, so be sure to read that post also to find out how you can get your very own copy of the MDS software for 1/2 price!!!  Also click on the colored text to check out Lisa’s gallery at Stampin’ Addicts.  Her gallery will open up in a new window so you don’t lose your place here.  She’s an amazing stamper and I’m sure her projects will inspire you!!  Lisa, thanks for letting me post your wonderful page.  Isn’t Coco a beautiful cat??
